Many bicycle enthusiasts add speedometers, lights, other sensors, and even heavy-duty locks or locking systems to their expensive streamlined bikes to customize and protect their investments. However, this often weighs down the bike’s frame.
The new Volata bike is the answer to this problem with a blend of added features in a single, ready-to-ride comprehensive model.
Volata’s base is a 7005 aluminum frame paired with carbon forks that house internal dual LED lights to make it strong, ultra-light, and bright for riders at night.
The new bike has also been given an 11-speed Shimano Alfine internal-gear hub and a fully electric Di2 system found hidden in the rear hub to help handle the shifting, which means shifts are more precise than ever before.
There’s also a 2.4-inch LCD TFT display worked into the aluminum stem that can be controlled by a joystick on the top of the right handlebar so riders don’t have to take their eyes off the road. This display paired with a smartphone app can provide navigation, heart rate, weather information, music, and display incoming notifications.
It has even been given a motion-detecting alarm system that sends a notification via the app to notify the owner of potential theft. All of these features are operated thanks to an integrated battery pack that is charged via a dynamo in the front wheel.
Available in different color, size, and saddle options, a $299 deposit reserves one of the Volata cycles for a July 2017 delivery, but owners will need to fork over a total of $3,499 to get their hands on this techy bicycle.
