To celebrate its 225th anniversary and pay homage to its Gyromatic watches from the 1950s and 60’s, Gerard-Perregaux has come out with its newest timepiece, the 1957 Gyromatic.
Though the Girard-Perregaux 1957 Gyromatic takes its styling inspirations from the 1960s-era Gyromatic watches produced by the Swiss brand, the namesake year of 1957 was the first year that the company implemented a technical solution of ratchet wheels to help improve the automatic winding efficiency in a period when self-winding watches were literally the new craze.
The new 1957 Gyromatic features a 40mm steel case that is polished on top and brushed on the sides and boasts a water resistance of almost 100 feet. Inside of the case is Girard-Perregaux’s in-house GP03300-0130 automatic movement, which can be viewed through a clear sapphire-crystal caseback.
Complete with a gold dial accented by silver everywhere else, the 1957 Gyromatic features a luxurious two-tone aesthetic, which pops even more when attached to a black alligator leather strap.
Girard-Perregaux asks $10,300 for the stunning throwback timepiece.
