It’s another day, another Hamptons real estate move for Matt Lauer. After it was revealed that the Today Show co-host and wife Annette Roque were the mystery buyers of Richard Gere’s lavish $36 million Hamptons estate, they listed their $4 million Cape Cod-style home in the area and quickly received their asking price.
Now that that’s taken care of, the couple, who’ve weathered rumors of turbulence in the past, have put their Sag Harbor property up for sale with an $18 million price tag.
The traditional-style home, which they had built in 2001, includes six bedrooms and seven-and-a-half bathrooms over about 8,000 square feet of living space—not to mention the 25 acres of scenic, rolling lawns it sits on. The property consists of two adjoining lots with a main and a guest house, as well as a 70-foot pool in the backyard, a patio, tennis courts, a winding driveway and lush gardens.
Inside, the home features a sitting room with gabled ceiling and exposed wood beams, a master bedroom with French doors opening to the yard and a grand fireplace, a reading room with built-in shelving, dining room and eat-in kitchen with stainless appliances.
The couple also owns a 40-acre farm in the area, but reportedly plans to hold onto that property.
Lauer signed a two-year contract to remain as Today co-host back in 2014 that pays him $20 million a year. He’s due for a renegotiation soon.
