Chanel’s newest jewelry line has been inspired by a unique new muse: the simple patterns and beauty of sprawling wheat fields.
Although most wouldn’t associate wheat fields with Chanel, the luxury brand took inspiration from what the French call, les blés. The legendary fashion house paired with French artist Gad Weil to develop the creative new Blés Vendôme line.
Since founder Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel was born on August 19th in the midst of the harvest festival and was raised in an agricultural setting, it seems fitting that the new collection honors the late phenom’s heritage.
That heritage has been reimagined in a luxurious new line meant to represent abundance and prosperity. Les Blés de Chanel features 62 jewelry pieces all taking inspiration from the artisan designs of wheat.
Creations in the collection include diamonds, peridots, crystalline, and aquamarines, just to name a few, and the line even covers other seasons as well. “Premiers Brins,” “Brins de Printemps,” and “Brins de Diamants” honor the spring season while “Moisson Ensoleillée,” “Bouquet de Moisson,” and “Moisson de Perles” pay homage to the fall harvest.
