For most homeowners used to a life of luxury, a trailer park move hardly sounds like an upgrade, but it’s exactly that for Betsey Johnson, the designer whose titular fashion label is renowned for its whimsical designs. Johnson recently traded in her 2,900 square-foot East Hampton home for a $2 million trailer in Malibu. The 1,500 square-foot mobile home includes three bedrooms and is located in the exclusive, bohemian Paradise Cove community. Johnson unloaded her East Hampton home for a reported $1.5 million and also recently sold her Upper East Side apartment.
The new digs include a wraparound deck and a veritable jungle of tropical plants with stone garden paths. Skylights and sliding glass will let the sun in for the rainbow bright designer, who said that she plans to paint the mobile home “a beautiful, happy yellow with white trim.”
The property also offers private beach access, so Johnson will certainly get to maximize her fun in the sun.
