The new Hermès Resort 2017 collection just went on display on the runway for the first time with its own original track by Jarvis Cocker and Serafina Steer.
The unique song, “I Never Gave You Flowers,” crooned loudly as models tread the runway in sandals and flat shoes, showing off the new collection. Inspired by Norwegian writer Henrik Wergeland’s poem, the line was designed to invoke romantic and colorful responses.
Even with the subtle, melancholy song, the Hermès wardrobe looked perfect for any garden party, picnic, or cruise out on a sailboat. The garden-party dresses were especially bold with flouncing, waving fabrics and smocked sleeves.
The runway show was to display the artistry of the collection rather than to simply appeal to commercial strategies. Interested customers will surely enjoy the simple styling of the vibrant colors, sophisticated shapes, and crocodile leather that made the collection uniquely its own.
Classic Hermès elements like scarf prints of tassels and bridles for dresses and silk shirts were also included in the artistic show and collection.
