Hollywood legend Richard Gere has finally unloaded his Hamptons, New York, home for $36 million.
The star turned Buddhism activist’s sale of the expansive waterfront estate comes just at the right time as Gere is in the midst of a large legal battle with his estranged wife, Carey Lowell, over another property—their previously shared $250-million estate.
Dubbed “Strongheart Manor,” the 6.2-acre North Haven mansion has been available since 2013 when it was first listed for $65 million. After several reductions, it was finally lowered to $36.5 million.
The main house holds 12 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms and was originally built in 1902. Although more than a century in age, it’s been thoroughly converted to be green, energy efficient, and ultra-chic.
The buyer is unknown, but the new residents will surely enjoy the lush grounds that hold a pool facing the Peconic Bay, a basketball court, a deep-water dock, a beach, and two guest homes. This is all in addition to a waterfront pond with a bridge and a quaint “island inspired tea house.”
