The new lighter, sleeker, and more muscular Mercedes-AMG GT R spent a lot of time at the famed Nürburgring with one goal: matching its rival, the Porsche GT3 RS.
The GT R is a more powerful version of the softer AMG GT Mercedes produces, but it comes stuffed full of racing-inspired technology to take on its German GT3 RS competitor.
Changes include a new double wishbone suspension system, rear-wheel steering (a first for Mercedes), and the most obvious change in the form of a new exterior aerodynamic package.
Mercedes-AMG’s GT R features a 4.0-liter V8 engine that makes 577 horsepower, a 74-hp boost from the GT S. The new GT R looks fast, too, thanks to the new AMG Green Hell Magno paint finish and a grill modeled after the 1952 300 SL that won the Carrera Panamericana.
The AMG GT R will be delivered starting in November and production will not be limited.
