HBO may have cancelled “Vinyl,” but you can still get your fix on throwback New York City vibes with Marc Jacobs’ Resort 2017 collection for men. Leopard was everywhere: in shiny button-ups and t-shirts, paired with baby blue Members Only-style jackets and dark cargos and even in the lining of dinner jackets.
A black and white striped turtleneck paired with a white leisure suit has a distinctly David Bowie-esque appeal and the Marc Jacobs showroom in Milan featured a mood board with shots of Keith Richards and Mick Jagger.
The company is also offering a sweater with a palm-patterned MTV logo, a callback to the station’s early marketing efforts, that’s sure to please window shoppers.
Pants included a huge range of silhouettes: hiked jeans with retro washes, narrow cigarette pants, relaxed drawstring-waisted nylons with an exaggerated flair. Rainbow suspenders and a recurring checkerboard pattern add a dash of fun and energy—call it “vintage youthful.”
A cashmere scarf and trench coat were paired with what can only be called a polka dotted pajama set to create a rebellious take on formality, and of course, the look wouldn’t be complete without some bold sunglasses and a leather jacket or two.
