Although most don’t associate toothbrushes with luxury or technology, Onvi is trying to change that. The brand has just introduced its new Onvi Prophix toothbrush that merges personal dentistry and advanced tech.

The smart toothbrush isn’t just connected to an app like many competitors; it actually has a video camera attached to it to show users the inside of their mouth while brushing. It might not sound pretty, but the video transmits to a smartphone app so users can see if they’re hitting the right spots.

Onvi’s new toothbrush even takes snapshots of a user’s teeth for progress and comparison shots to track hygiene progress. The toothbrush itself is sold with four interchangeable attachments, and it features a rotating brush, a prophy cup for contour cleaning, a rubber tip for gum massage and tartar removal, and a mirror.

Developed by Chicago-based dentist Craig Kohler, he sought to adapt the tech he uses in his offices for users at home. “As I used intraoral cameras and monitors to treat my patients, I saw how it helped them to better understand the status of their oral health, and in turn, adopt better cleaning habits,” said Kohler, founder and CEO of Onvi.

Prophix is set to ship in early 2017 and is available for preorder at a reduced price of $300.
