BMW’s i8 hybrid sports car has been pretty limited in paint options since its release in 2014, with the German brand only offering three color options thus far. But now the vehicle is about to become quite colorful with the announcement of BMW UK’s i8 Individual Exterior Paint Program, a new color collection with a bevy of fresh choices for customers to choose from.

The new color options will include Frozen Grey, Frozen Black, Java Green, Solar Orange, Speed Yellow, Twilight Purple Pearl, San Marino Blue, and Grigio Telesto Pearl, along with a few others, and will add $8,000 to the final price tag. There will also be a trio of new finish options to choose from, including metallic, non-metallic, and Xirallic, which is a mixture of synthetic mica or aluminum flakes to create a dazzling effect.

“The BMW i8 embodies the accomplished vision of a modern and sustainable sports car,” said BMW UK Sales Director Richard Hudson. “The new paintwork colors not only complement the BMW i8s emotive styling and design, they also work harmoniously with the BMW i brand and provide customers with exclusive personalized options.”

There will also be one special color only available to BMW UK customers, Protonic Red, and it’s already selling quickly.

It is unknown whether other BMW regions will follow suit, but with how great these new colors look on the i8, how could they not?
