French motorcycle enthusiasts have groaned for the past 30-plus years about a law restricting all motorcycles to 100 horsepower, but now the ponies have been unleashed on the streets of Paris and beyond thanks to new European Union regulations.

One of the first results of this newfound freedom is the LM 847, which comes from French designer Ludovic Lazareth.

The LM 847 is a quad bike built around a 4.7-liter Maserati V8 engine, meaning the roar the pedestrians hear will be a real one, seeing as it has somewhere around 470 hp roaring through a single-speed automatic transmission.

And while all of that power is impressive, the design Lazareth has given the LM 847 is equally as monstrous and appealing. Somehow the French designer combined a Ducati Panigale tail section with winged front lamps and an enormous handlebar for a completely unparalleled new look.

Lazareth may be the Dr. Frankenstein of modern bikes, and if so, the LM 847 is simply his newest beast.
