It is the 30th anniversary of the BMW M3, and to celebrate the German brand has come up with a special edition M3 30 Jahre model of the iconic car.
The M3 30 Jahre wasn’t given a giant boost on the performance side, which is what BMW did do when it celebrated the 30th birthday of the M5. The limited edition M3 boasts the same 3.0-liter straight-six cylinder engine that creates 444 horsepower as the Competition Package M3, meaning the anniversary vehicle can jump from a stop to 62 mph in 4.0 seconds flat.
One notable feature of the M3 30 Jahre, however, is the Macao Blue paint job that comes standard on the model, which is the same metallic blue finish that was an option on the 1986 M3 E30.
Only 500 M3 30 Jahre Edition cars are set to be built, and the limited edition model earns a $11,000 up-charge from the $87,080 asking price of the Competition Package M3, meaning the asking price for the birthday BMW is $98,080.
The M3 30 Jahre will launch in the middle of the year to commemorate the signing of the first M3 sales contract.
