Tech company Asus has unveiled its new home robot. Debuting at Computex 2016, which is Asia’s largest tech show, the Zenbo home robot made quite an impression.
Similar to Amazon’s Echo or Google’s Home, the new device seems perfect for a busy family. It helps manage everyday tasks and connects to other smart devices. Additionally, Asus sees their new creation as the perfect companion and guardian for the elderly.
Zenbo is marketed as a personal assistant, home automation controller, and entertainment center. It’s also mobile since it’s set on large wheels and powered by an electric drive. There’s no word yet on how it might deal with stairs.
Able to display family photos and videos, the little robot also sports a touchscreen interface much like a tablet and uses high-quality integrated speakers for interacting with users, playing music, and recognizing and responding to speech.
Asus’ Zenbo connects wirelessly to other devices to control the family television, adjust the A/C, turn lights on or off, and lock and unlock smart home locks. Thanks to its built-in artificial intelligence, it’s even able to learn and adapt to users’ preferences.
Additionally, Zenbo can announce appointments, medication reminders, send out an SOS, and the camera feed can even be accessed remotely via a smartphone app. Asus’ Zenbo will be available for the relatively low cost of $599.
