Swedish firm Claesson Koivisto Rune has designed a new furniture range dubbed “Santiago.” The collection boasts high sloping backs and triangular shaping for Italian brand Tacchini, which was displayed at this year’s Salone del Mobile in Milan last month.
The Santiago line includes a two-seat sofa and an armchair and accompanying footrest. All of the models feature short, tubular legs in ash or dyed walnut wood. Unique painted metal pieces of the line are covered in pink or bright yellow fabric for a dash of color, and the footrest is upholstered in a patterned pink fabric to help contrast the one chosen for the armchair.
The tall slopes of the backs help create the triangular look, which is highlighted when looking at the side of the pieces. The furniture also shows off curved armrests that slightly slant down to help aggravate the slope-effect in the design.
Claesson Koivisto Rune featured furniture based off of the work of Minimalist sculptor Donald Judd that was designed for Dutch company Artifort and was on display at the Salone del Mobile.
