American actor and author Tyler Perry has recently sold his Atlanta mansion for $17.5 million. The “Madea” series creator, who’s believed to be worth $450 million, actually set a new city record with the sale of his home.
Spanning 35,000 square feet, the hilltop compound is set on 17 acres and features a hobby house, an underground ballroom with a catering kitchen, an entire-estate generator, an infinity-edge swimming pool, and quite a bit of Chattahoochee River frontage.
Perry’s home was built in 2007 and features seven bedrooms. It was originally listed for $25 million back in July. The actor only paid $9 million for the land in 2005. The listing cites the home as “perhaps the most compelling private residence to ever be offered to market in the history of Atlanta.”
Even though he’s moving on from the expansive home, he’ll still be in the area since Perry owns 1,000 acres of land in Douglas and a property in metro-Atlanta.
