Along with the announcement of Sergio Marchionne being named as Ferrari’s new CEO, the Italian supercar brand also unveiled its first-quarter sales for 2016, which were the best-ever for the company.
Ferrari’s shipments came in at 1,882 units for the first quarter, up 15-percent from the same period in 2015. The sales boost was thanks to a 21-percent increase in the company’s V8 models, mostly with the 488 GTB and the 488 Spider, which helped overshadow a 6-percent decline in 12-cylinder sales, a drop that Ferrari expected as it started to bow out of producing the FF and the limited-edition LaFerrari, along with the end of the F12Berlinetta series.
All of Ferrari’s regions saw growth, with Europe, the Middle East, and Africa up 24 percent, China up 16 percent, the Asian-Pacific market up 14 percent, and the Americas even seeing a slight increase with 2 percent more sales (despite that region making up more than 27 percent of the brand’s first-quarter shipments).
Ferrari had previously divulged that it wanted to increase its yearly output of vehicles to about 9,000 units by 2019, and being on track to ship out over 7,500 of its supercars this year is a big step in the right direction.
