Member of the fashion elite Tamara Mellon has re-listed her duplex penthouse in the Carhart Mansion on Manhattan’s Upper East Side for $27 million.
Mellon (the former chief creative officer for Jimmy Choo, the child of a former Chanel model, and the co-founder of Vidal Sassoon) dropped $20 million to scoop up the penthouse in 2008 and the home has been on and off the market since her divorce from banking heir Matthew Mellon. The listing was first offered for $34 million back in 2014.
The massive duplex spans 7,140 square feet and boasts interior designs from British decorator Martyn Lawrence Bullard. The space does have a few specific touches clearly built for Mellon, including a large dressing room in the master suite that has floor-to-ceiling shoe racks, which is plenty of room for Jimmy Choos.
Carhart Mansion has only three other large apartments in the 1913-built building that was meant to mimic the style of an era-similar Parisian hotel. The home was used by the the Lycee Francais de New York from 1935 to 2000 before it was converted into the four-unit upscale housing offered up today.
