The Pierre hotel in Manhattan has remodeled its triplex penthouse. Gone are the oil paintings and Oriental rugs in the grand living room that was once the Pierre’s ballroom. In their place, modern and contemporary furnishings have taken center stage.
The Pierre has also lowered the asking price to $57 million, down from the $125 million the owner sought for the property in 2013, and the $63 million it failed to sell at when it was most recently on the market last fall.
The failure to sell prompted the owner, Barbara Zweig, to take a different approach to selling the penthouse by removing all of her furniture and hiring Interior Marketing Group to revamp the space that spans the 41st through 43rd floors of the Pierre.
The triplex features four terraces, three kitchenettes along with the main kitchen, a sauna, and private elevator access.
Zweig, the widow of financier Martin Zweig, purchased an apartment on a lower floor of the Pierre for $12 million after her husband’s death in 2013 and completed her move out of the penthouse earlier this year.
