The Audi TT has been called out before for being more about glitz and style than power, but that storyline can now end with the German company’s unveiling of the 2017 Audi TT RS at the recent Beijing Motor Show.
The new TT RS packs 400 horsepower and 354-pound-feet of torque with its five-cylinder engine. This power is sent to all four wheels in Audi’s usual Quattro way to give the TT RS an impressive zero-to-62 mph time of 3.7 seconds.
The new TT comes in both coupe and convertible models, with each coming with a fixed-rear wing. Other features include a 12.3-inch virtual cockpit display, the Audi Connect infotainment system, and inductive smartphone charging paired with classic TT bucket seat.
The TT RS isn’t expected to join stateside sales floors until early 2017, with its European release set for this fall. Audi hasn’t released pricing for the U.S. models yet, but overseas it will start at €66,400, or about $75,000, which is probably a good indicator of where the final price will land for those excited to pick up a TT RS in the U.S.
