Tesla has been pretty busy lately with the launch of its new and more affordable Model 3, a range of updates to the Model S, and now the scrapping of the base model of its Model X line for the new range-starting Model X 75D.
Out with the 70D after just a few months on the market, the 75D upgrades to a 75kWh battery pack that powers the electric drivetrain of two electric motors on each axle.
This extra power helps increase the range of the most affordable Model X from 220 miles to just under 240 miles on a single charge. The 75D also can go from 0-to-60 mph in six seconds and tops out at 130 mph with an impressive towing capability that doesn’t seem to hurt its power.
The new base model also has a new starting price, up $3,000 to $83,000 before taxes, titles, and fees. The top of the range Model X P90D runs for $115,500.
Future owners of the 75D will also have to wait until June to get their Model X, about a month longer than the higher-priced editions are set to be delivered by.
