Luxury piano maker Steinway & Sons has just opened a retail and performance space in New York City named Steinway Hall. The brand that’s known for its high-end handcrafted pianos will now offer incredible sound to the Big Apple.
Steinway & Sons’s new two-story retail space and performance hall features a 74-seat recital hall complete with live streaming capabilities, a recording studio, rehearsal studios, a “piano bank” for Steinway artists, and a state-of-the-art Steinway Lyngdorf sound system.
The 19,000-square-foot property designed by Selldorf Architects sports end-grain oak flooring, acoustic concert-hall paneling that mimics the woods used to make pianos, and Imperial Yellow recital hall seats that match the felt found on the key mechanism of a Steinway & Sons piano.
With such unique accents that pay homage to the design of their pianos and an art installation titled Newton’s Theory of Color and Music, the new center is sure to bring in art and music lovers alike.
