The Brentwood-area estate of writer, director, and producer Jerry Zucker of “Airplane!” and “Naked Gun” fame has come up for sale for $16.5 million. If the comedic genius gets his asking price, it will be a killer return from the $4.1 million he paid for it in 1990.
The 1939-built Colonial mansion is shaped like a boomerang and comes in at about 10,000 square feet with designs and upgrades done by Michael S. Smith, the same designer responsible for the most recent Oval Office remodel. The 1.6-acre parcel also includes a 400-square-foot guesthouse.
The six-bedroom, 12-bathroom home also features a mahogany-paneled library, an eat-in kitchen with green-tile countertops and modern appliances, and a 35mm projection home theater that also has a wet bar to match its tiered seating.
Outside there is a tree-shaded terrace with an outdoor fireplace, a swimming pool, and a pickleball court.
Zucker was also the director and producer of popular films like “Ghost” and “Rat Race,” and more recently was a producer for the film “Friends With Benefits” starring Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis.
