Volvo took a big step into the luxury market with its flagship crossover model, the new XC90 Excellence, which the Swedish automaker displayed at the recent 2016 New York Auto Show.

The Excellence has a price tag of $105,895, which is $60,000 more than the XC90’s base price of $44,945. It’s also over $30,000 more expensive than the T8 Twin-Engine model, which the Excellence shares its 400-horsepower plug-in hybrid powertrain with.

All things considered, the XC90 Excellence has the highest price of any model to roll off the Volvo factory floor.

With the XC90 Excellence joining the likes of the Porsche Cayenne, Mercedes G-Class, and the new crossovers in the works from Bentley, Lamborghini, and Maserati, buyers will have high expectations of Volvo’s newest model.

The Excellence seems to deliver with materials like Nappa leather, open-pore wood, and 20 Bowers & Wilkins speakers throughout the cabin. Volvo has also removed the second and third-row seating in favor of luxury recliners featuring massage options, ventilation, and more legroom. In between these bespoke seats is a center console that has fold-out tables and a bottle refrigerator complete with crystal champagne flutes.

Volvo clearly intends the XC90 Excellence to be geared toward the Chinese market, but the automaker has said it will offer a limited number in the United States with deliveries starting this summer.
