A Palm Springs, California, home formerly belonging to actor Steve McQueen has hit the open market for $4.595 million.
McQueen, one of the most iconic action film actors of the 1960s and ‘70s, used the Palm Springs getaway with his second wife, Ali McGraw. The four-bedroom, four-bathroom home was designed by architect Hugh Kaptur in 1964 and sports a sunken entryway that conceals most of the house from street view, a desirable feature for any celebrity’s home.
The estate has been mostly untouched since McQueen last lived there, which was sometime before the “Bullit” actor passed away in 1980 from mesothelioma. The home still features custom Edward Fields rugs that McQueen had placed in the home.
The current owner first listed the property in 2011 but took it off the market just a year later before recently relisting the home. The same owner also owns the Elrod House, which was featured in the 1971 James Bond film “Diamonds Are Forever” and is right next door to the McQueen home.
