One of Mercedes-Benz’ most popular models stateside is the CLA-Class, and to make sure that popularity continues, the German automaker has revamped its CLA models with fresh exterior tweaks and even more performance-minded equipment.
Though prospective CLA-Class owners will have to wait until this fall to get their hands on the new 2017 model lineup, Mercedes took its new sedans across the pond to show off all the recent upgrades at the 2016 New York Auto Show.
The CLA250 features a new front bumper and updated design that flows across the width of the car to create one single streamlined shape. The CLA45 AMG has the same streamlined look as its sibling, but also sports matte titanium gray inserts in the splitter and high-gloss black canards to give the high-performance model a stronger look. There aren’t many changes to the interior of the CLA family, but the eight-inch infotainment system now has a slimmer screen.
Both models have the same powertrains as before, with the CLA250 featuring a front or all-wheel drive, seven-speed automatic transmission and a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder engine that makes 208 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The CLA45 AMG also has a seven-speed gearbox and a turbocharged, 2.0-liter engine that pumps out 375 hp and 350 pound-feet of torque.
