Nissan took to the 2016 New York Auto Show to unveil its new 2017 GT-R, the most significant shakeup to the popular model since the Japanese car company last re-introduced the GT-R in 2007.
One of the most impressive updates is the handcrafted 3.8-liter V6 twin-turbocharged engine that now pumps out 565 hp thanks to individual ignition-timing controls of the cylinders to help boost the turbochargers. All this power from the 3.8-liter monster is sent through a six-speed dual-clutch transmission which means the new Nissan can hit 60 mph from a stop in 2.8 seconds.
On the outside, the GT-R has been given a facelift in the front end via a redesigned hood, chrome matte finishes, and an updated mesh pattern. This gives the new model a more race-car-like aesthetic. The rear section of GT-R has also been refined to improve the aerodynamics.
Inside Nissan’s new vehicle is a bevy of premium leather throughout, including the dash and steering wheel. There is also a large touchscreen infotainment system.
The new GT-R is expected to hit sales floors later this summer with a price tag a little over $100,000.
