The 1.3-acre compound in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles belonging to actor and comedian Jim Belushi has been unofficially listed with an off-market asking price of $42 million.
The “According to Jim” star purchased the property for $8.3 million in 2007 and spared no expense in updating and making the 7-bedroom, 10-bathroom Tuscan-style home his own.
Spanning 12,000 square feet, the home opens to a stone-floored foyer, a curved staircase, and large formal dining and living rooms that both have hardwood flooring and Gothic tracery on the ceilings. There is also a top-of-the line kitchen, which leads to a breakfast area and family room, and a furnished basement with a media area and bar room with climate controlled cabinets for wine, alcohol, and cigars.
Outside is a dining terrace and pool area that features two outdoor fireplaces and overlooks the gigantic lawns, rose and herb gardens, walking paths, and a two-bedroom guesthouse on top of the detached garage.
Belushi also owns another Brentwood property (which he is leasing out for $16,000 a month), a 13-acre retreat in Oregon, and an 8.5-acre oceanfront estate in Martha’s Vineyard that belonged to his late brother, John Belushi of “The Blues Brothers” and “Animal House” fame.
