Jason Segel was clearly a big fan of Shepard Fairey’s 1929-built house in the Los Feliz hills in Los Angeles. The “How I Met Your Mother” star paid up $415,000 over the asking price to purchase the property for $2.25 million.
Segel’s new 2,523-square-foot Mediterranean-style villa features three bedrooms and two bathrooms in the main living area. There is also an additional suite complete with its own bathroom and private entrance that can be used as guest or staff quarters. From the house-wide terrace is a set of stairs that lead to a tree-lined yard with a small lawn and a dining terrace with a fire pit and bar.
Fairey purchased the home in 2006 for $1.365 million, but also dropped $2.541 million for a small estate in the nearby Franklin Hills neighborhood, cutting into his profit margins from his recent sale a little bit.
As for Segel, the “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” lead still owns a 1930s-built cottage in the Hollywood Hills that he snagged for $1.816 million a little over a year ago. He also made a tidy profit with the $6.9 million sale of two side-by-side homes right behind the iconic Chateau Marmont Hotel last April that he purchased for just $1.849 million and $2.24 million in 2007.
