Swiss-based watch company Richard Mille chose the SIHH 2016 trade show to reveal its newest creation, which actually isn’t a timepiece, but is instead a fountain pen.
Richard Mille hasn’t always stuck to its luxury watches; in fact, in 2012 the company created its own cufflinks. Now the meticulous Swiss creator is shifting its focus to a fine writing tool.
The new Mechanical Fountain Pen has been created to cater to both casual users and connoisseur collectors at the same time. The pen slots right into Richard Mille’s watch line as it features the same precision movement and top-of-the-mark manufacturing as its timepieces.
Richard Mille’s new pen features a NTPT Carbon exterior that allows owners to see the interior movement of the pen. The new writing instrument took Richard Mille’s researchers four years to develop and create, resulting in circular-grained and rhodium plated gears and hand-polished angles, locking sections, and sinks.
