McLaren will continue to show off its Special Ops (MSO) customization division with a duo of bespoke models at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show in March to display just how far the brand will go to personalize its vehicles.
The British supercar brand decked out two of its top models, a P1 and a 675LT Spider, for the event. This will be the first auto show appearance for the Spider, while it might be the last public outing for the P1, which just ended its production after the 375th road version was finished and delivered.
One of the special features on the MSO P1 is the bodywork with a “Lio Blue” lacquer that exposes the weave of its carbon fiber, which is the first time McLaren has shown this type of treatment to the public. The special P1 also has “carbon black” Alcantara with blue stitching, glossy black wheels, and a 24-carat gold exhaust heat shield.
The 675LT Spider, which only has 500 units planned, is one of the rarest cars McLaren has made. The MSO Spider that will hit Geneva show room floors takes an already carbon fiber heavy model and adds even more carbon fiber to the buildup, with unpainted carbon fiber front bumper end plates, skirts, intakes, and rear bumper.
The interior of the convertible features Alcantara racing seats with yellow stitching and trim pieces in a color unique to the model. It also has a 24-carat gold heat shield.
Both of the MSO cars at the Geneva Auto Show are one-of-a-kind, but interested customers can request some of these features in their own bespoke models.
