Maserati has an impressive 101-year history of building luxury cars, and now the Italian brand has finally joined the status quo and built its first-ever member of the SUV class: the Maserati Levante.

The Levante will make its full debut at the 2016 Geneva Auto Show in the beginning of March, where it will join the rest of the Maserati lineup including the Quattroporte, Ghibli, GranCabrio, and GranTurismo models. The new SUV features narrow headlights, a contoured hood, and a hexagonal grill that are all along the same design line as the Ghibli and Quattroporte.

In comparison with other luxury SUVs like the Porsche Cayenne and Range Rover Sport, the Levante has a more muscular and angular look.

As far as engines go, the Levante is expected to have both diesel and gas models along with two V6 options that will put out 350 and 450 horsepower, respectively, and also a V8 model that will pump out 580 hp with the goal of joining the likes of the Cayenne Turbo S and Range Rover Sport SVR.

Maserati will launch the Levante in Europe starting this spring, with the SUV hitting showroom floors not too long after. The Levante is expected to start at $100,000.
