Netatmo has come out with a new outdoor home camera, the Presence, which can monitor for suspicious characters and even out-of-place vehicles and send alerts to its owners while they are away all while monitor a home’s exterior.
Revealed at CES 2016 in Las Vegas, the Presence is a discrete option for homeowners to survey their property. Designed to replace an outdoor light, the Netatmo device connects to a resident’s Wi-Fi to let them control it from a smartphone, Apple Watch, tablet, or computer.
Presence even has deep learning algorithms that allow it to distinguish between commonly seen people, cars, and animals in its 100-degree field of view. The Presence is also weatherproof and can handle everything from freezing to high temperatures.
Netatmo’s Presence can also be used as an ultra-bright floodlight to deter possible intruders. It records 1080p full-HD video and uses infrared technology to capture video at night. Presence owners can even keep track of their homes via a live video stream or check in later by viewing saved footage on microSD cards.
Netatmo is expected to make Presence available for purchase toward the end of 2016.
