More than a year since the introduction of Olympus’ last PEN-series camera, the O-MD featuring Micro Four Thirds-based (MFT) and mirrorless interchangeable lens (ILC) technologies, the brand has finally unveiled a new PEN-series model, the PEN-F Digital.
The PEN-F Digital takes its retro style from the original 1963 design and integrates the above technology to celebrate Olympus’ 80th anniversary of making cameras.
The PEN-F introduces a new 20-megapixel Live MOS MFT sensor and has the same five-axis image stabilization system as the O-MD E-M5 Mark II and Olympus’ TruePic VII image processor. The higher-resolution sensor gives the camera a 50-megapixel Hi-Res Shot mode.
Also packed in the PEN-F is a 3-inch vari-angle touch LCD and an OLED electronic viewfinder that has a Simulated Optical Viewfinder feature that mimics an optical viewfinder’s quality.
Additionally, the PEN-F can also shoot video in Full HD 1080p at 60p, comes with built-in Wi-Fi for pairing to a smartphone or tablet, and works with the Olympus app which allows owners to share photos and even remotely control the camera.
The PEN-F will be available in March in silver-and-black and all-black examples.
