In a tribute to the “Spaghetti Western” movies Sergio Leone created in the 1960s, Italian designer brand Dolce & Gabbana has created its Sicilian Western-inspired line for Fall/Winter 2016-2017. The collection is complete with ‘60s-style embellishments and embroideries combined with modern cuts and fits.
Dolce and Gabbana listened to the scores Ennio Morricone created for these movies to create a nostalgic feeling to add to the inspiration for their designs. The compositions were also used as the music for the runway show.
The look achieved is a contemporary design with a touch of the heavily embroidered Western-themed shirts from that special era in film-making, complete with lots of guns, cacti, cowboys, and horses all over the stage.
For Dolce & Gabbana it is important to tell a story in its new designs, and with this new line it is clear they have continued that trend.
