Former world heavyweight champ Mike Tyson landed a new blow when he purchased his Las Vegas area home for $2.5 million, 40 percent below what the previous owners paid during the real estate boom in 2006.

Tyson and his wife, Lakiha closed on the 8,149-square-foot house located in the Seven Hills area of Henderson, Nevada, just before the new year. The six-bedroom mansion with marble flooring and lush landscaping is just down the street from Tyson’s old house, which is now on sale for $1.5 million.

Tyson came to fame in the late 1980s when he became the youngest heavyweight champion at the age of 20. His life took a turn shortly after when he was convicted of rape and spent three years in prison in the early ‘90s.

Iron Mike also caught more trouble in 1997 when he famously bit Evander Holyfield’s ear in the ring. All the troubles paired with a lavish lifestyle ended with Tyson filing for bankruptcy in 2003 despite earning over $400 million during the course of his career.

Tyson has found renewed success of late, making endorsements, celebrity appearances, and starring in his own animated series “Mike Tyson Mysteries.” It all seemed to begin with his role in the popular comedy, “The Hangover” and its subsequent sequel, “The Hangover 2.”
