While electric car giant Tesla has grabbed most of the headlines over the past couple years, it was electric car company Faraday Future and its brand new high-performance concept, the FFZERO1, that stole the show with its debut on the eve of CES 2016 this past week.
The hypercar features a body that looks like it was designed to tear down racetracks and make heads turn on busy streets. Faraday Future claims the vehicle could have a limited release despite it being a concept car.
The California-based makers claim the FFZERO1 packs 1,000 horsepower and can hit a top speed of over 200 mph and go zero-to-60 in under three seconds. Even though these are numbers theoretical so far, if Faraday Future can produce even a limited run of the FFZERO1 with specs close to those listed, it will enter into the realm of high-class luxury speed demons like Lamborghini, Ferrari, and McLaren.
Like Tesla, Faraday is planning on making its own unique battery packs in-house and has also designed its own control system.
The FFZERO1 is a one-seat vehicle with four motors, one at each wheel, and features a carbon-fiber body with an all-glass ceiling. It also comes equipped with a smartphone dock in the center of the steering wheel, a helmet to supply water and oxygen to the driver, and even an instrument panel that gauges the driver’s biometrics.
