Brand new Airbus planes aren’t just focusing their innovative attention on engine power. In fact, the new fleet is working on decreasing jetlag with altered humidity and special LED lighting.
The newest A350 XWB jets plan to combat jetlag with panels of LED lighting that alter ambient color temperature to help reduce the typical negative effects on passengers’ natural circadian rhythm.
However the LEDs aren’t like simple lamps; in fact, the system features up to 16.7 million hue settings that can adjust throughout the flight’s duration to match the timezones the plane is flying through.
A lighter reinforced jet frame also means cabins can be pressurized to 6,000 feet rather than 8,000 feet to keep humidity levels higher, which equals more comfort for passengers.
Costing around $15 billion, the new line of planes will be in the air soon as part of Qatar Airways’ international fleet.
