Formerly known as the SLK Roadster, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz SLC will debut at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show before it hits dealerships next spring.
The SLC will come in two forms: A sportier looking SLC300 and a much more powerful Mercedes-AMG SLC43.
The SLC300 comes standard with a 241-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine. The SLC43 packs more punch with a 3.0-liter V6 biturbo engine that puts out 362 hp. Both models will come with a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The SLC takes 5.7 seconds to hit 60 mph from stop, while the SLC43 bests that time by just over a second for a zero-to-60 dash of 4.6 seconds.
Mercedes claimed the name change came due to the fact that the SLC has a close relationship with the company’s C-Class line.
