It’s been a busy year for Mercedes-AMG, and the luxury automaker is continuing to add vehicles with its new 2017 S65 Cabriolet. The newest addition to the S-Class family is set to debut soon at the Detroit Motor Show.
The fifth V12-powered Mercedes vehicle features a powerful 6.0-liter engine capable of generating 621 horses from 4,800 to 5,400 rpm—and an earth-shaking 738 pound-feet of torque—with a little help from two large turbochargers.
Mercedes-Benz’ powerful convertible can speed from zero to 62 mph in just 4.1 seconds while reaching an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph. German drivers can also opt to increase the top speed to a whopping 186 mph with the addition of the AMG Driver’s Package.
A seven-speed automatic transmission manually controlled with steering wheel-mounted shift paddles ensures speed and accuracy on the road while an automatic start/stop system sets in when Controlled Efficiency mode is used to control gas mileage.
The S65 Cabriolet has added aesthetic changes like metal mesh inserts in the grill and lower bumper, a chrome trim, and model-specific 20-inch wheels. A cloth top that raises and lowers in 17 seconds at speeds up to 30 mph comes in black, beige, dark red, and dark blue so drivers can customize their majestic fire-breathing chariot.
Mercedes has yet to unveil the price for its all-new 2017 Mercedes-AMG S65 Cabriolet, which is expected to be available in Germany next April.
