Although its name may not sound artistic or modern, the stylish and chic Banana Table designed by Craig Monroe is spectacular.
The Florida-based 3D modeler/designer mimicked his design off a banana’s stem after looking at a banana peel during lunch.
Monroe began to design the table using specialized software and focused on making it a subtle homage to the popular fruit. His focus was on developing an asymmetrical silhouette with sharp edges and big curves.
Crafted from six Peruvian walnut wood “peels,” the inner layers are closer to the light inside of a banana, while the outside pieces are thicker and vary in shade. A unique tabletop was made from two wood rings that hold a slightly yellow-tinted piece of glass.
