Iconic pop artist Andy Warhol’s former Montauk, New York, estate has just sold for $50 million. The set of white-shingled cottages with incredible ocean views has set a new record for the eastern seaside hamlet.
Spanning around 5.7 acres of oceanfront land, the compound called “Eothen” was constructed in the 1930s as a fishing camp and includes a 3,800-square foot main home and five additional cottages.
Warhol and Paul Morrissey bought the estate for just $220,000 back in the 1970s, which had once been a retreat for stars like Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and the Rolling Stones.
The property has been purchased by Venus Over Manhattan gallery founder Adam Lindemann, although he turned down the 24-acre horse farm that was originally listed with the late artist’s home.
An avid collector of Warhol’s work, Lindemann was quick to purchase the home after listing his own Montauk home for $29.5 million.
