Porsche will travel to the Detroit Motor Show next month to unveil its new 2017 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo S. The German company will offer both as a coupe or convertible and will give a first look at the upgraded engine power and internal features.
A twin-turbocharged, 3.8-liter flat six-cylinder engine has been tweaked to produce 540 horsepower and 523 pound-feet of torque for the 911 Turbo. This makes the 911 Turbo coupe hit 60 mph from zero in 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 189 mph.
Porsche’s 911 Turbo S gets 40 extra horses, a 20 hp jump from the 2016 model, with a flat-six that pumps out 580 hp and 553 pound-feet of torque. The 911 Turbo S earns a zero-to-60 time of 2.8 seconds and can reach a top speed of 205 mph. All of this power is checked with the help of composite ceramic brakes and an active roll stabilization function.
All of the 911 Turbo models come with Porsche’s Sport Chrono Package that helps with the responsiveness of the vehicle, with a simple button to help precondition the engine and transmission.
The Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S are set to hit showrooms in April of 2016 and are priced from $159,200 to $200,400 depending on the model type.
