Even though retired tennis star and announcer John McEnroe and 1980s rock star Patty Smyth already own two multimillion-dollar homes in Malibu, California, they recently decided to splurge on a third in the sought-after Paradise Cove area.

The couple dealt out $21 million for a contemporary mansion right on the sand. The 1990s-built home has four bedrooms with an ocean view, four bathrooms, and three half baths set in just under 6,500 square feet.

The house also features an opulently outfitted kitchen, a library/office, walk-in wine cellar, and a large family room with built-in bar and sliding door that opens up to an outside dining terrace overlooking the ocean.

McEnroe and Smyth will now be neighbors with country music stars Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, international financier Vivi Nevo, and producer Jon Burton.

The McEnroe-Smyths also purchased a landlocked 1960s-built ranch-style home just up the street from their new house for $3.35 million in 2013.
