Terradyne usually specializes in making armor-plated, all-terrain vehicle called the Gurkha for military and law-enforcement officials around the world, but now the Canadian company has entered into the commercial market.
The Gurkha RPV Civilian Edition is ready to drive through a zombie apocalypse with ease. The Civilian Edition starts off as a regular Ford F-550 truck before going through an intensive revamp to create a tank on military-grade bead lock wheels complete with gigantic off-road tires.
While this vehicle is able to withstand 7.62-millimeter armor-piercing rounds thanks to top-to-bottom plating, the 13,550-pound behemoth is a bit of a gas guzzler, sustaining only 10 miles per gallon.
It’s also not the fastest with a top speed of 68 mph, but who ever heard of a high-speed tank.
Ford reportedly approves of the modifications to its F-550 and honors its drivetrain warranty for the unique Gurkha RPV Civilian Edition. Terradyne is asking $278,000 for its new model.
