Elton John struck gold with the $33-million purchase of a much-publicized, 20-acre Beverly Hills estate after the property sat on the market for more than four years.
Custom built in 2001, the almost 25,000-square-foot house was offered for $63 million in 2011 by Guess co-founder Armand Marciano. The last listing price was $37.9 million before the rock legend made his winning bid.
The three-story Mediterranean-villa style home features 10 total bedrooms (including three bedrooms for staff), 10 full and 12 half bathrooms, and an 11-car below ground garage.
The house was clearly built for entertaining with a double-height foyer, formal living and dining rooms, and a commercial-grade kitchen.
John’s new home also has the luxuries expected of a star’s home with a library, family room, screening room, wine cellar, gym, swimming pool and adjacent pool house, indoor/outdoor kitchen with a pizza oven, and a lighted tennis court.
