It certainly didn’t need an upgrade, but the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta received one nonetheless, and now it’s even more powerful than before.
Ferrari’s all-new F12tdf is lower in weight but stronger with a 6.3-liter V12 engine capable of producing 769 horsepower, up from 730 in the previous model. The ‘tdf’ initials are a reference to the now-defunct Tour de France race (auto, not bicycles) that Ferrari won every year between 1956-1964 with a 250 GT or GTO.
The F12tdf’s seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is also now able to downshift 40 percent faster and with ratios six percent shorter. Larger wheels, one-piece brakes, and a wider track have been also been added.
Additionally, Ferrari’s new machine features a new Virtual Short Wheelbase system for high-speed stability and more accurate turn-in.
Naturally an internal makeover wouldn’t be complete without a new exterior look too. A carbon-fiber body reduces weight by 240 pounds and provides increased aerodynamic performance.
With only 799 examples and the ability to speed from zero to 62 in just 2.9 seconds, the F12tdf is sure to make an impression on the road.
