Before McLaren became known as an automaker, it was a race team that won a now-defunct race series known as the Canadian-American Challenge Cup (Can-AM).
In honor of the 50th anniversary since the first Can-Am race, the luxury carmaker is debuting its limited-edition 650S Can-Am based on the 650S Spider.
Constructed by McLaren Special Operations (MSO) division, the vehicle stands out with a distinct and aggressive look. Carbon ceramic brakes with black calipers, gloss-black forged alloy wheels, and a quad-exit polished stainless steel exhaust system further add a unique flair.
The standard 3.8-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 engine remains unchanged aside from the upgraded exhaust system and produces a whopping 641 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque.
McLaren’s special edition 650S will be available in three colors, all of which pay homage to past racers’ uniform hues. Only 50 units will be produced, and pricing begins at $334,500.
