The Most Expensive Mansion for Sale in DC Just Found a New Owner

Washington real estate is doing well. Prior to September 2015, the most expensive non-multi-unit residential sale of the year was $6.3 million for a Cleveland Park mansion. With quite a jump from that record, the Fessenden House has taken the title with its recent sale. Although the final price is unclear, the property was listed for $22 million, and it’s possible it sold for full asking price—give or take a couple million dollars.

With 7 bedrooms and 11.5 bathrooms, there’s plenty of room for hosting guests and social events. Samuel Lehrman of the Giant supermarket family was the previous owner and surely put the home’s spacious living areas to use with time spent among friends and family.

Sporting classic East Coast elegance and featuring a wine cellar and tasting room, outdoor pool and pool house, a half-size sports court, and an elevator, the new owners should find themselves right at home.
