Television icon Norman Lear is going part ways with his long-time Brentwood, Calif., home after recently putting it on the open market for $55 million.

Lear and his third wife, Lyn Lear, purchased the bulk of the 10.76-acre estate for $6.5 million in 1995 and it features a 13,320-square-foot main residence, though both the size of the land and home are only estimates based on L.A. taxes.

The home features seven bedrooms with eight full and four half bathrooms in the main living area, but is also reported to have a pair of guest houses, security and staff offices, garage space for 35 cars, and a swimming pool and separate spa area.

Lear came to fame as the producer of 70’s television hits such as “All in the Family,” “Sanford and Son,” “The Jeffersons,” “Maude,” and “Diff’rent Strokes.” The longtime TV man also helped fund and produce the early movies of famous actor and director Rob Reiner such as “Stand by Me” and “The Princess Bride.”
